Land preparation

Depending on the site two basic practices are required: removal of perennial weeds particularly shrubs that might interfere with cactus plantation and minimum soil preparation. For commercial production it has been demonstrated that there is no need for extensive tillage. It is sufficient to loose the soil at the planting spot either manually or by ploughing along the planting line to encourage root penetration into the soil.
