Les biofabriques, nouveaux modèles de production et d’accès aux intrants agricoles en Amérique latine

The rise of bioinputs, such as biofertilizers, biocontrol agents, and biostimulants, is transforming agriculture in Latin America. Supported by years of public investment in research and the development of microorganism-based technologies, this movement addresses pressing challenges in reducing chemical input reliance.

Biofactories, small-scale facilities in rural and farming communities, play a critical role in this shift. Promoted by NGOs, farmer networks, and public policies, these initiatives empower farmers to produce bioinputs locally, fostering sustainable practices. While biofactories offer promising opportunities for resilience and environmental health, they also face challenges, including technical barriers and market integration, that demand innovative solutions.
