
The CFS has a permanent Secretariat which includes staff from FAO, IFAD and WFP. Its task is to support the Plenary, the Bureau and Advisory Group and the HLPE-FSN in their work. It is hosted at FAO in Rome.

With over 25 years of senior-level engagement in agricultural trade and markets, Adriana Herrera Moreno has served as the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico in international agricultural fora such as WTO, OECD and CGIAR. She brings expertise in conducting inclusive multistakeholder consultations, fostering public-private partnerships and advocating for sustainable trade and food security, as well as an academic background in international public policy and economics. Based in Rome since 2024, she serves on the Committee on World Food Security actively advancing global efforts to eliminate hunger and malnutrition.

Fatiha Terki is the senior advisor to the Committee on World Food Security in Rome, on secondment from the World Food Programme (WFP). At WFP, she held key roles including Deputy Director a.i of Operations (DR Congo), Country Director (Senegal), Deputy Director of Nutrition, UNAIDS Global Coordinator and Head of Global Partnerships. A medical doctor with a PhD in epidemiology, Fatiha has over 25 years of experience in nutrition, food systems, HIV, and reproductive health. She is specialized in policy development, program implementation, advocacy, and resource mobilization, with a strong focus on strengthening government and NGO capacities. She co-chaired the SUN movement’s business network, served on the UNITLIFE Board, and contributed to initiatives like IFNA and the Nutrition for Growth Summits. Her previous roles include senior partner at WHO’s HIV department and managing major funding projects with the Global Fund. In her home country, she coordinated national immunization and family planning programs.

Marzano de Marinis is an experienced long-standing international civil servant. At present he serves as Senior Advisor at the Committee on World Food Security where he was seconded by IFAD. Marzano is a staff member of the International Fund of Agricultural Development, IFAD, a specialized agency of United Nations and International Finance Institutions, where he has occupied multiple positions. Before Joining IFAD, Marco worked as Secretary General of the World Farmers’ Organisation. During his tenure as Secretary General of WFO he was appointed by the Secretary General of the United Nation Antonio Guterres as Special Advisor on Antimicrobial Resistance. He also Assessed the United Nations’ Secretary General Bank Ki Moon on Climate Smart Agriculture, and has acted as Vice-Chair of the Steering Committee on Trade Capacity and Standards (SCTCS), of the United Nation Economic Commission for Europe UNECE. In the UN, Marzano also worked for the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO in Geneva, from 2003 to 2012. Previoulsy, he worked for DG Internal Market, European Commission in Brussels, and; DG Enterprise (IPR Helpdesk, Project) in Alicante. He also worked as legal advisor in the legal department of the International Trade Center (UNCTAD/WTO) and for the Vatican, Propaganda Fide, as Financial officer. He is a qualified attorney, specialized in innovation and Intellectual Property issues, and; invited professor on business management of Innovation in many Universities around the globe. He is the author many publications.

Lorenz Franken joined the CFS Secretariat in January 2023. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in food and agriculture policy. Before joining the Secretariat, he worked as a Director for the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the German Foreign Office. He has a PhD in International Public Law.

With a background in political science and development economics, Chiara Cirulli brings over 15 years of experience in spearheading large intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder processes. She has been coordinating the Committee’s policy work around the areas of responsible investment in agriculture and food systems, agroecology, youth engagement and employment, strengthening collection and use of FSN data, reducing inequalities and strengthening urban and peri-urban food systems. Prior to joining the UN, she held positions within the non-profit sector in Belgium and El Salvador.

With over 15 years of experience in multistakeholder processes in the field of food security and nutrition, Emilio Colonnelli serves as a Programme Coordinator in the CFS Secretariat. He coordinates the workstream on CFS uptake which is intended to strengthen linkages between CFS and relevant actors and platforms to promote the use and facilitate the integration of CFS policy products into regional and national policies, strategies and programmes. Emilio holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Master’s degrees in International Relations as well as in Human Development and Food Security.

Giorgia Paratore is a biologist, food scientist, and licensed nutritionist with a Master’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. She joined the CFS Secretariat in 2018 and contributes to the development of policy guidance aimed at achieving food security and nutrition worldwide. She brings several years of experience in global policy processes, multilateral governance, and high-level policy dialogues, bridging scientific knowledge with practical experience in food security and nutrition policies. Before joining CFS, Giorgia worked at FAO from 2015 in the Food Systems and Nutrition Division, and previously at a hospital in Rome, where she developed nutrition plans in the diabetes department.

Alessandra Mora joined the CFS Secretariat in February 2026. She brings over 10 years of experience across the United Nations system in food security and nutrition governance, multilateral partnerships, and advocacy. Prior to joining the Secretariat, she worked as a Partnerships consultant with the UN-Nutrition Secretariat and in the Nutrition Division at WFP. She has extensive experience fostering collaboration and dialogue among diverse stakeholders across global platforms. She holds two Master’s degrees: one in International Relations and one in Food Security and Human Development.

Valentina Delle Fratte joined the CFS Secretariat in 2024. She has a background as an interpreter and translator, with over 34 years of professional experience at FAO. Prior to joining the Secretariat, she worked across various FAO divisions, including 15 years in the Forestry Division, where she supported the organization of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) and coordinated global forestry events. She holds an advanced university degree in Translation and Interpretation.

Eleonora Viotti has been administrative support to the CFS Secretariat since August 2024. Prior to joining the Secretariat, she worked in Milan, in Google and Morgan Stanley, as a Facilities assistant providing logistical support. Montserrat Barba Lagomazzini is a content and information management specialist with over 30 years of experience, primarily with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). She has worked at the intersection of content, technology, and governance, helping shape how complex information is structured, shared, and preserved. With a strong background in multilingual publishing and digital platforms, she brings clarity, consistency, and purpose to content ecosystems. Her work combines precision with creativity, always with a focus on making information accessible and meaningful. She is also experienced in Protocol and High-Level institutional engagement, adding a human and diplomatic dimension to her role.

Silvia Meiattini joined FAO in 2020 and currently coordinates communications at the Committee on World Food Security (CFS). She has more than 15 years of professional experience in strategic communication across the private, public and non-profit sectors. Before joining FAO, she worked as Communication Manager in a multinational consulting company and led international communication, institutional relations and public affairs projects within a communication agency. She also served in the Cabinet of the Regional Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Andalucía and worked in research and policy analysis, including at the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Silvia holds a master’s degree in International Relations and a master’s degree in Climate Change.

Before joining the CFS Secretariat, she worked with organizations such as RAI, FAO, and several startups, contributing to projects across both small and large teams. She is experienced in end-to-end web design processes, from early-stage concept development and prototyping to final implementation and collaboration with developers.

Laila Khrais is a Digital Communication Specialist. She has supported projects within the Chief Scientist Office (DDCC), the Office of Innovation (OIN), and the Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU). Her expertise includes communication strategies and multilingual content creation for web, social media, and video. She served as a video producer for the Science and Innovation Forum (SIF) in 2023 and as the production company focal point for SIF 2025, overseeing coordination on branding and digital assets.
