Policy products

With the aim of enhancing coordination, policy coherence, and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, the CFS develops policy guidance to support countries and stakeholders in their efforts to achieve food security and nutrition for all.

CFS policy products constitute unique global policy instruments, negotiated at the multilateral level through an inclusive, intergovernmental, and multistakeholder policy convergence process, which tackles a broad range of topics through a food security and nutrition lens.

The distinctiveness of the CFS policy convergence process lies both in its scientific foundation, informed by the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN), and in its broad consultations and formal negotiations among governments, civil society, the private sector, UN agencies, and other actors to build consensus on shared policy guidance.

These multilaterally agreed products promote policy coherence and coordination, supporting countries in designing, implementing, and monitoring strategies and programmes for sustainable food systems and the progressive realization of the right to adequate food.
