No results found.FAO organized its first ever Global Conference on Sustainable Plant Production (GPC) (Rome, 2 to 4 November 2022), with a focus on Innovation, Efficiency and Resilience. Its main objective was to provide a neutral forum for FAO Members, farmers, scientists, development agencies, policy makers, extensionists, civil society, opinion leaders and the private sector to engage in dialogues around sustainable plant production. To achieve impact towards implementing the 2030 Agenda, the GPC developed 20 actionable recommendations. The recommendations encompass all the thematic areas highlighted in the GPC, with a focus on adaptation to local contexts, needs of small-scale farmers, and include cross-cutting issues to guide active innovation for global sustainable plant production systems. The recommendations clearly establish (i) priorities for targeted mobilization and pooling of scientific, technical and financial resources; (ii) evidence and knowledge sharing through the creation and management of functional technical networks; and (iii) testing and scaling evidence-based sustainable plant production practices, partnerships and policies. -

No results found.The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized the first-ever Global Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (GAMC), with the theme “Efficiency, Inclusiveness and Resilience” from 27 to 29 September 2023. This event provided a neutral forum for FAO Members, farmers, universities, agricultural scientists, mechanization service providers, development agencies, policy makers, extension specialists, civil society, opinion leaders and private sector for focused dialogues to prioritize actions and strengthen technical networks for sustainable development of agricultural mechanization. Significant progress has been achieved in sustainable agricultural mechanization, in many countries around the world, these advances need to be scaled, according to local contexts, to achieve sustainable agricultural production and transformation of agri-food systems, protect the environment, manage natural resources, mitigate and adapt to climate change while creating decent jobs, social equity and achieving food security and improved nutrition. Through six thematic sessions and side events experts from all over the world and different backgrounds shared evidence-based and innovative approaches on sustainable agricultural mechanization to increase efficiency, inclusivity and resilience in the agri-food systems. No results found.This book represents the proceedings of the Global Conference on Green Development of Seed Industries which FAO organized in a virtual format on 4 and 5 November 2021. Coming 12 years after the previous World Seed Conference, FAO convened the conference to provide a neutral forum for its Members, partners, industry leaders, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to engage in focused dialogues on how best to make quality seeds and planting materials of preferred productive, nutritious and resilient crop varieties available to farmers, especially in food insecure parts of the world. The proceedings provide a record of the main highlights of the conference, including the opening and keynote address plenary session, a high-level ministerial segment and eight parallel sessions dedicated to the four conference themes of advanced technologies, conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture, crop varietal development and adoption, and seed systems. The fifth conference theme, policy and governance, was crosscutting. The conference was timely, informative, inclusive and inspiring and its successful convening creates an important momentum to facilitate the development and delivery of the solutions that enable farmers to have access to quality seeds and planting materials of improved crop varieties.
