Synopsis (short abstract) The Monthly Price Update is an information product provided by the oilseeds desk of the Markets and Trade Division of FAO. It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In January 2024, the FAO price indices for oilseeds and oilmeals declined month-on-month, while the vegetable oil price index remained virtually unchanged. All three price indices remained below their respective year-earlier levels, ranging from about 13 percent below its January 2023 reading for vegetable oils to as much as 25 percent for oilseeds.

    The Monthly Price Update is an information product provided by the oilseeds desk of the Markets and Trade Division of FAO. It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In March 2024, the FAO price indices for oilseeds and oilmeals continued to decline, whereas the vegetable oil price index rebounded markedly from the previous month. While the oilseed and oilmeal price indices stood, respectively, 13.4 and 24.2 percent below their year-earlier levels, the index for vegetable oils climbed to a one-year high.

    The Monthly Price Update is an information product provided by the oilseeds desk of the Markets and Trade Division of FAO. It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In November 2023, all FAO price indices trailing the oilcrop complex increased from the previous month. While the oilseed and vegetable oil price indices remained below their respective year-earlier values, the price index for oilmeals stood nearly 8 percent above its November 2022 level.

    The Monthly Price Update is an information product provided by the oilseeds desk of the Markets and Trade Division of FAO. It reviews the development of international prices for oilseeds, oils and meals as reflected by FAO’s price indices. In February, all three FAO price indices pertaining to the oilcrops complex declined. The oilseed price index decreased by 5.2 points (4.3 percent) from the revised level of the previous month, reaching the lowest point since November 2020, while the oilmeal index shed 6.6 points (5.7 percent) month-on-month, marking a 29-month low.
