Stakeholder Engagement Factsheet - Support for the management of an effective national coordinative mechanism regarding the Green Climate Fund 2019
    Also available in:

The aim of this factsheet is to present the stakeholder engagement activities implemented in the frames of the North Macedonia’s first Green Climate Fund Readiness and Preparatory Support Project “Support for the management of an effective national coordinative mechanism regarding the Green Climate Fund” implemented in 2019 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under guidance and leadership of the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, as National Designated Authority (NDA) to the GCF. The Project engaged all relevant stakeholders in consultative processes aiming at prioritization of North Macedonia’s strategic climate investments for GCF funding. This also involved engagement of the private sector in the implementation of project/programme ideas, as well as consideration of the Environmental and Social Risk Management Tools according the GCF’s Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) and gender aspects. The consultation with relevant stakeholders aimed to ensure that chosen GCF priorities are fully aligned with the national plans and strategies and other on-going efforts at national level. National consultations were conducted through consultation events engaging all relevant stakeholders, including national institutions, private sector, civil society, academia and international organizations. This factsheet was jointly developed by the Cabinet of the Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs, in its role as NDA to GCF and FAO. This factsheet is available in English, Macedonian and Albanian language.

Multi-stakeholder collaboration is an important process that can serve as a tool and strategy to solve complex issues and problems such as transforming national food systems towards more sustainable outcomes. This guide aims to support stakeholders working at all levels of the food system in the implementation of actions to transform their food systems. Centered on 5 building blocks underpinning successful multi-stakeholder collaboration for food systems transformation, the guide uses these constructions to illustrate ingredients of the process and show the interconnectedness of the steps needed to be successful. The guide also contains two annexes with a list of tools, and assessment questions. Annex 1 highlights a range of tools to support facilitators and participants with deeper guidance on a specific topic. Annex 2 contains a checklist of questions, customized to the content provided under each Building Block, and serves as an ongoing monitoring tool that can be used alongside the recommendations provided.

Sustaining peace in the Sahel and West Africa
Lessons learned and best practices from FAO Peacebuilding Fund projects
    2023
    Also available in:

Since 2018, the portfolio of PBF projects implemented by FAO in the region has consolidated considerably, with a tripling of funding mobilized. It is with a view to reinforcing this momentum of increasing PBF projects that the FAO Subregional Resilience Team for West Africa and the Sahel (REOWA) has initiated a process of exchange between country offices, with a view to generating knowledge aimed at developing best practices in peacebuilding. This summary report makes available the results of the self-assessment of the PBF projects and the highlights of the virtual workshop held on 31 May 2022, focusing on: (i) the effects induced by the interventions carried out by FAO on the peacebuilding dynamic; (ii) the good or promising practices promoted in terms of building sustainable peace; and (iii) the main lessons concerning the approach to formulating PBF projects, as well as the strategies for operational implementation and monitoring-evaluation of the interventions. This feedback will help to improve programming practices in the region's country offices, as well as fostering exchanges with colleagues from country offices in other regions of Africa and United Nations agencies that collaborate with FAO in implementing PBF projects.
