I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Leader of the Cybersecurity Research Group at York St John University. Prior to this appointment, I held several academic leadership roles, including Head of the School of Computer Science at University of Sunderland and Associate Head of Computer and Data Science at York St John University. My academic and research career has been shaped by extensive international experience across the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Nigeria, with teaching and research appointments at institutions including Auckland University of Technology, NorthTec, and Bayero University Kano.
As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (D3), I also serve as a mentor and assessor for Advance HE, contributing to the professional development and academic advancement of higher education practitioners across the UK.
My research interests lie at the intersection of the Internet of Things (IoT), e-agriculture, food security, cybersecurity, data privacy, applied artificial intelligence, and trust-based systems. My work focuses on the design and development of secure, scalable, and intelligent digital solutions for smart and interconnected environments. In particular, I investigate how IoT-enabled technologies can support sustainable agriculture and strengthen food security through precision farming, environmental monitoring, intelligent resource management, and data-driven decision-making. I am also interested in developing resilient and privacy-preserving frameworks that enhance secure communication, system reliability, and trust within next-generation smart agricultural ecosystems.
