An expert in climate change management, Emerson Resende is an adviser at the UN FAO Subregional Office in Barbados. Mr. Resende has built a career in the private, multilateral and intergovernmental sectors and supported the development of mitigation and adaptation climate policies under the United Nations Climate Change secretariat (UNFCCC) and led a wide range of corporate sustainability and climate resilience initiatives in Africa, Europe and Latin America, including at KPMG and the German Government (GIZ). He has strong experience in managing complex multi-million dollar projects and creating added value with an innovative and systemic approach based on high efficiency. Before joining FAO, Mr. Resende was a senior climate change adviser at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington and before that he led a global project for the United Nations Secretary-General's initiative working at the forefront of big data and sustainable development. He holds a Master’s Degree in Carbon Management from the Business School of the University of Edinburgh. In his spare time he enjoys go karting and playing football, besides mentoring kids and teens to be the eager minds of tomorrow.
