Dear Michael, Yeah in India a lot many such initiatives are happening. We are learning fast through the process. However with high population, huge diversity and geographical spread the task is quite challenging. The ITC-E Choupal model of empowering the growers with market price through information accessibility has given new dimension to our learning. [Refer - http://www.itcportal.com/sets/echoupal_frameset.htm ] We are also trying to bridge the extension gap by making the agri-production technology available to the farmers. [http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/006200802261531.htm] Recently there has been good initiative by the banking sector to increase the accessibility of banking services in rural areas by introducing 'Mobile ATM's with biometric technology' - [read at http://www.topnews.in/canara-bank-introduces-mobile-biometric-atm-rural…] apart introducing various products like 'Farmer Credit Cards'. These are either private, public or NGO initiatives - however at the implementation level always the PPP models are promoted and gets Govt. support. Shall try to post more success stories and concerned issues in future. Best wishes, Raj

Indeed, Sapna this forum will help all especially the persons who work close to the ones who live in Rural Settlements and i personally think that to work out agriculture enterprises through developing public private partnership like this one will help in the long run to the people of this sub-continent in particular.
