The Symposium, under the Chairmanship of the Mr N. Odero (Kenya), took place over a period of two and a half days. Two panels were formed: Panel I under the leadership of Mr W. Odoi-Akersie (Ghana) discussed the principles of planning, aquaculture planning and the implementation of fisheries plans; Panel II, under the leadership of Mr V.O. Sagua (Nigeria) concentrated on the management of fisheries in lakes, reservoirs, lagoons and rivers. The discussions were based on ten basic papers and 27 experience papers or country reports.
This document does not include Symposium papers which have been, or will be, published separately, for example in the form of FAO Fisheries Technical Papers or FAO Fisheries Circulars. A full list of papers presented is provided in Annex 1, papers published elsewhere being marked with an asterisk (*). A more detailed list of the latter is given in Annex 2.
