This document is the adopted report of the Fourth Steering Committee Meeting of the Aquaculture for Local Community Development Programme (ALCOM). The Meeting was hosted by the Kingdom of Swaziland and was held in Mbabane, 19–22 February 1991.
ALCOM is an inter-regional programme with its activities in the SADCC countries of Southern Africa. It is executed by FAO and presently funded by Sweden. The main objective of the programme is to contribute to increased standard of living in rural areas, through the development, test and demonstration of aquaculture strategies, methods and techniques.
The SADCC countries (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe), the donor(s), and FAO as the executing agency are members of the Steering Committee. It's main tasks are to :
