Family Farmers for Climate Action

The FFF is supporting the Family Farmers for Climate Action (FFCA), an alliance of farmer organizations representing over 50 million producers across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. FFCA campaign is calling on governments and funders – public and private – to recognise the key role family farmers play in building more sustainable and climate resilient food systems.
Family farmers are pioneering the solutions needed to tackle the climate, nature, and food crises, yet they are often sidelined by governments and overlooked by funders. The campaign is working to ensure their vital role in building more sustainable and climate-resilient food systems is fully recognized.
Building on momentum from COP28, where 159 governments pledged to transform food systems, the campaign advocates for more climate finance to flow directly to family farmer organizations, and for farmers to have a real seat at the decision-making table—not as beneficiaries, but as true change-makers.
With COP30 on the horizon, the FFCA campaign is spotlighting farmer leadership in critical discussions on adaptation, finance, and the interconnection between climate, forests, and food systems. In view of this, FFCA is actively working to enhance the visibility of farmers’ organizations in national and regional media, strengthening farmers' capacity to engage with journalists and develop a strong group of farmer voices ahead of COP30. Farmer leaders will be equipped to speak to the policies and politics of core negotiation issues, including adaptation finance.
Support from the FFF and the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) have enabled story gathering on key themes like climate impacts and adaptation showcasing the role of family farmers in protecting forests and ecosystems, while creating thriving local economies. Through this effort, the campaign is ensuring that family farmers are seen, heard, and influential at the table, and on the global stage.
