The Seventh Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources will be held at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy from 7 to 9 March 2023. The meeting will open on Tuesday, 7 March 2023 at 10:00 hours. The Session will be held in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

In October 2021, the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture decided that the Working Group should meet prior to the next Regular Session of the Commission to review progress made in the implementation of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Forest Genetic Resources and a draft Second Report on the State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources. The Commission also requested the Working Group to explore cross-sectoral issues, such as access and benefit-sharing, digital sequence information and the role of genetic resources in mitigating of and adaptation to climate change, as well as to review the Commission’s Strategic Plan.
