To feed into and inform the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2), a series of on-line discussions are scheduled to be held on selected thematic areas. This online discussion aims to explore how the most disadvantaged and nutritionally vulnerable groups of society can be protected by an inclusive development process through the design and implementation of nutrition-enhancing social policies and social protection interventions.

The High Level Panel of Experts for Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) seeks input on the V0 draft of its report on smallholder investment in agriculture. This study focuses on the policy options for addressing constraints to investments, taking into consideration the work done on this topic by IFAD, and by FAO in the context of COAG, and the work of other key partners. It includes a comparative assessment of strategies for linking smallholders to food value chains as well as an assessment of the impacts on smallholders of different forms of partnership models.

The report aims at providing a balanced science-based assessments of the opportunities and challenges that Biofuels may represent for food security so that they can be produced where it is socially, economically and environmentally feasible.
Economic growth can be a powerful driver for increased food security when translated into agricultural growth. However, to reduce poverty and hunger, growth needs to reach the poor and the increased income needs to generate demand for the assets controlled by them. As not all countries are being equally successful in generating this inclusive growth, how can good governance and social protection help to translate economic growth into improved food security and nutrition for all?
There is now considerable interest among international development organizations and practitioners in agriculture programming and policy to improve nutrition. This discussion is an opportunity to review the substantial international dialogue on improving nutrition through food and agriculture, to identify the research gaps and to distil and prioritize the actions needed at country-level.
