He also implemented the communication plan for the International Finance Corporation’s Food Loss and Waste Management Program, ensuring visibility and effective stakeholder outreach.

Murimi began his career as a journalist at The Star newspaper before joining Panagrimedia and PanAfrican Agriculture, where his reporting has covered critical issues such as livestock research, food security, climate resilience, and agricultural innovation. His published work includes coverage of initiatives like AGRA’s VALUE4HER program in Senegal, the transformation of rural landscapes through Eritrea’s dam projects, and milestones such as ILRI’s 50th anniversary of livestock research. Through these stories, he has amplified voices and perspectives shaping Africa’s agricultural future.

His investigative reporting at The Star focused on environmental conservation and water governance, with impactful stories on the depletion of Mau Forest and its link to worsening droughts and conflicts, ecological threats in the Maasai Mara that could disrupt the wildebeest migration, and contested boundary reviews around Lake Naivasha. He documented contradictions across Kenya’s nine laws defining riparian lands, highlighted farmer-led innovations to create artificial reservoirs to save Lake Naivasha, and explored agroforestry as a potential solution to restore the lake’s ecosystem. These features underscored his commitment to connecting environmental policy with community resilience.

Beyond reporting, Murimi has conducted exclusive interviews with global leaders in food security and agriculture, including former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former IITA Director General Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, icipe Director General Dr. Abdou Tenkouano, U.S. Special Envoy for Global Food Security Dr. Cary Fowler, and Norman Borlaug Award Fellow Dr. Dennis Beesigamukama. His ability to engage with policymakers, researchers, and practitioners reflects his dedication to fostering dialogue across multiple levels of the food systems ecosystem.

Academically trained in journalism and mass communication, Murimi combines editorial expertise with strategic communication skills. He has a proven track record in media relations, social media strategy, event coordination, and integrated campaigns that enhance organizational visibility and reputation.
