Background
This side event is intended to bring together the forest community and demonstrate the value of high resolution 4.77m monthly available satellite data in improving not only reporting processes but also understanding of land use and forest management from 2015 onwards. The combination of both workshop style as well as user presentations (from forest countries) is designed to both inspire and encourage other potential users to not only see the benefit of the inclusion of such data in their reporting and management practices but also to know where, and how, such data can be accessed.

With the program team present as well as demonstrations provided on other open tools (such as SEPAL) the hope is to reduce the barriers to access and provide forest countries an opportunity to explore, enquire and discuss with the program team and UN-FAO how this data can be used and how further support can be provided to improve capacity building and enablement.
