水牛

The water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is a large bovine species originating in Asia; not to be confused with the wild African buffalo (Syncerus caffer). Whilst its distribution is still concentrated largely in Asia small populations also exist in most other parts of the world. The vast majority of buffaloes are raised in labor-intensive, small family farms, where they provide milk and serve important functions as draft animals, particularly in rice production. Buffalo milk has important nutritional value; it has twice the calorific content of cow’s milk, is extremely rich in calcium and is a good source of minerals like magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.
