FAO’s appeal for Yemen
More than half the population of Yemen is currently food insecure, since the beginning of the war, the number has risen from 12.9 million to 14.4 million. The strain on already limited farmland has worsened in a country where only 2 percent of arable land is used for agriculture production. Directly from the field, Etienne Peterschmitt, FAO Emergency Response Manager in Yemen, talks about severe access issues to do assessments and the work that FAO is carrying out. In order to continue to support farmers, fishermen and herders during 2016, FAO is appealing for 25 million US dollars.
