Smallholders face constraints to ensure efficient delivery of produce to buyers because of their small-sized operations and their vulnerability when faced with environmental and market fluctuations. Various forms of producer organizations at the federation and district levels can develop different mechanisms and tools for reducing losses early in the supply chain.

The sustained increase in consumer demand and spending means that today’s markets offer better opportunities for farmers, including small farmers. Producer organizations (POs) offer smallholders a space for collectively responding to these increasing demands.

Cooperatives in the small-scale fisheries sector are a way of maximizing long-term community benefits to deal with the threats of fisheries mismanagement, livelihood insecurity and poverty – harsh realities for many of the world’s small-scale fishers.

تبين البحوث والتجارب المتراكمة أن صغار المزارعين عندما يعملون لوحدهم ال يستفيدون من ارتفاع أسعار المواد الغذائية، في حين كان من يعملون بشكل جماعي في منظمات منتجين وتعاونيات قوية قادرين بصورة أكبر على االستفادة من فرص السوق المتاحة والتخفيف من اآلثار السلبية الناجمة عن األزمات الغذائية وغيرها من األزمات.

تشكل هذه المبادئ التوجيهية مرجعا وتوفر التوجيه لتحسين حوكمة حيازة الأراضي ومصايد الأسماك والغابات بهدف تحقيق الأمن الغذائي للجميع.
