وتستمر جائزة خليفة الدولية لنخيل التمور لتشجيع المساهمات من الفئات الخمس من الاصدار السابع بما فيهم المزارعين والمنتجين والباحثين والأكاديميين والمختصين ومحبي شجرة النخيل حول العالم.
أدت الجهود لصون وتطوير المعرفة بشأن أشجار نخيل التمور لخلق نظام فريد من نوعه يجمع بين الإنتاج والاستدامة وضمان التنوع البيولوجي، وكذلك المساعدة في تحسين سبل معيشة أولئك الذين يفلحون الأرض. فمنذ عام 1965، تفخر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة فخورة بأن تكون جزءا من الجهود الرامية إلى تطوير النخيل وتقر بأن دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة كانت تتصدر الجهود الإقليمية والدولية من أجل إنتاج مستدام لأشجار النخيل.

Voluntary guidelines applied for the first time – major success in EU-FAO partnership
A new programme worth €33 million to improve land governance and help improve the food and nutrition security of family farmers and vulnerable communities in Sub Saharan Africa, was announced today by the European Union’s Development Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs.
