This indicator focuses on surveys and inventories of PGRFA (species of crops, crop wild relatives and wild food plants, and crop varieties) carried out in the country of the reporting National Focal Point (NFP).
It is based on information reported in response to question 1.2 of the Reporting Format for Monitoring the Implementation of the Second Global Plan of Action for PGRFA.
Question 1.2 requests the NFP to list the species (taxon name) of crops, crop wild relatives and wild food plants surveyed/inventoried in situ (including on-farm) during the reporting period and flag the species identified as threatened. For the crop species the NFP also indicates the number of farmers’ varieties/landraces surveyed/inventoried and those that have been identified as threatened.
Information from question 1.2 fulfills both indicator 2 and indicator 3 of the Second GPA.

The indicator is calculated as the sum totals of the species and of the varieties surveyed/inventoried in the country during the reporting period.

Species surveyed/inventoried, total is the total count of species surveyed/inventoried of the selected county/region reported by the NFP for the reporting period.
Species surveyed/inventoried, annual average is average number of species surveyed/inventoried per year of the selected county/region reported by the NFP for the reporting period.
Varieties surveyed/inventoried, total is the total count of varieties surveyed/inventoried of the selected county/region reported by the NFP for the reporting period.
Varieties surveyed/inventoried, annual average is the average number of varieties surveyed/inventoried per year of the selected county/region reported by the NFP for the reporting period.
Visualize Data
A map showing reporting countries is displayed using a colour gradient based on the total number of species and varieties of the selected county/region reported by the NFP for the reporting period.
A Select option tab at the top of the map allows the viewer to choose whether to view species or varieties. Actual country data aredepicted as a pop-up box when the mouse is placed over the country in the map.
A histogram of the total values and annual average values is displayed by CGRFA regions. Actual values are depicted as a pop-up box when the mouse is placed over the histogram bar.
