"I feel a moral obligation to stand here today on behalf of the
people stricken with poverty to lend every support to FAO in its
global campaign against hunger," said Italian soccer player Roberto
Baggio, when he was named FAO Ambassador at World Food Day 2002.
Roberto “The Talent” Baggio, who plays the position of forward,
is considered to be one of the world’s most gifted athletes. He
has been named Europe’s best soccer player by journalists and world’s
best by coaches.
In his new capacity as FAO Ambassador Roberto Baggio wishes to serve
as a role model for younger generations, inciting them to lead a
life of solidarity. As such, Roberto is creating a webpage dedicated
to FAO and its global campaign against hunger on his official internet
address.
