The BEFS Approach also includes guidance on the prevention and management of risks related to tenure issues in the context of bioenergy development.
This guidance is relevant for:
-areas considered for agricultural extensification for bioenergy feedstock production;
-areas where a land transaction may take place in order to produce bioenergy feedstock;
-and forest concessions.
The tenure‐related guidance is based on the FAO Voluntary Guidelines on Tenure Governance and consists of:
1. Guidance for national/local authorities responsible for tenure systems and for the allocation of tenure rights and related procedures
2. Guidance and indicators for investors/operators, on the avoidance, minimization and management of physical and economic displacement.
