Experts from thirty-one FAO member States, RFMOs and NGOs participated in the third Global Record Working Group, held in Rome in June 2017.

Among other matters, the Working Group advised on facilitating data upload by the States, possibly through RFMOs’ regional records and/or IHS Maritime & Trade database of IMO numbers through a simple procedure on the Global Record Information System.

They also agreed on the importance of publicly releasing the Global Record Information System prior to the next Committee of Fisheries (COFI) session, in July 2018.
