Fish Forum 2018: Fisheries Science in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea

The first General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) Fish Forum will take place at FAO HQ in Rome from 10-14 December 2018. The overall goal of the forum is to bring together the wider community of people working on fisheries and the marine environment in the Mediterranean and Black Sea in order to bridge the information gap, discuss advancements in research, integrate scientific knowledge in support of decision-making and identify research priorities for the future.

The Fish Forum 2018 will be addressing the three interrelated themes below:  

This year's forum is a key activity of the mid-term strategy (2017-2020) towards the sustainability of Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries, adopted as Resolution GFCM/40/2016/2. Moreover, the forum will take a closer look at the progress made towards achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources, as well as other interrelated SDGs, such as SDG 5 on gender equalitySDG 8 on decent work and economic growth and SDG 13 on climate action.
