Urgent action on climate change needed to safeguard mountains, says new Mountain Partnership Ambassador, Ludovico Einaudi

“Today, mountains and their glaciers are undergoing irreversible transformations resulting from climatic upheavals linked to human action. These are transformations that affect us: the water and energy that we use daily and so many of the foods we eat come from mountains,” says composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi, new Goodwill Ambassador of the Mountain Partnership.

La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas designó el 11 de Diciembre como el “Día internacional de las Montañas”. Desde 2003 se ha celebrado cada año para sensibilizar sobre la importancia que las montañas tienen para la vida, para destacar las oportunidades y los límites en el desarrollo de las montañas y para construir alianzas que aporten cambios positivos, tanto para los pueblos de la montaña como para los ambientes alrededor del mundo.

Mountaineering Ireland presents IMD award

Mountaineering Ireland (The National Governing Organisation for Mountaineering in Ireland) presents the 'Mountaineering Ireland-Lynam Award' each year to during International Mountain Day.
