Online talks: MountainTalks: International Mountain Day 2023
International Mountain Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the relevance of mountain ecosystems and call for nature-based solutions, best practices and investments that build resilience, reduce vulnerability and increase the ability of mountains to adapt to everyday threats and extreme weather events.
Although "Restoring mountain ecosystems" is the suggested theme for 2023, countries, communities and organisations are invited to celebrate the IMD through a theme that is more relevant to them. It is in this context that the Portuguese Camping and Mountaineering Federation (FCMP) and the Galician Mountaineering Federation (FGM) have decided to join forces to celebrate International Mountain Day 2023 with two talks, followed by a moderated period for questions and comments from participants.
This online event, held as part of the Mountain Talks and, in addition, the celebration of International Mountain Day 2023, deals with the sustainability of Mountain Sports, covering some of the environmental realities and initiatives that have been carried out by the FCMP Training Centre around the world and on the Iberian Peninsula, with a special focus on Galicia/Spain and Portugal.
