Under the overall supervision of the FAOR in Mongolia and direct supervision of the National Project Manager, the economist will carry out the following duties:

  1. In cooperation with the Project Management Unit (PMU), Local coordinators, and other key stakeholders, to collect data from meat, dairy and vegetable value chain beneficiaries from 6 targeted provinces;
  2. Carry out economic analysis of the meat, dairy and vegetable value chains; assessing in quantitative terms the value-added creation and distribution among the various actors of the chains;
  3. Assessment of the socio-economic context of the producer profile, specifying the cost of production, the farm gate price and income of the average production dairy, meat and vegetable products at the individual, producers and cooperative level. Moreover, costs, benefits and a resulting estimated income need to be quantified for the income generation of beneficiaries;
  4. Perform economic analysis for business entities (small, medium and large) that project works with
  5. Analysis of potential added value to dairy, meat and vegetable products;
  6. Any other actions are required and appropriate to ensure the success of the project in consultation with supervisors;
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Report the cost and benefit analysis of the meat, dairy and vegetable value chains;
  • Report income generation of each value chains to beneficiaries.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES: 

  • Master’s degree in Economics, agricultural economics, finance, or related fields;
  • At least ten years of practical experience in the field of agriculture, development or related field;
  • Knowledge of English is advantage.
