Boosting biodiversity action through agroecology- Guidance for developing and updating National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans
Integrating agroecology into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) offers a unique chance to address biodiversity while advancing various global targets, such as those related to climate change, desertification, disaster risk reduction, hunger, poverty reduction, health, and nutrition.
This document provides guidance on incorporating agroecology and sustainable food systems into the development and execution of NBSAPs, aligning them with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
The aim is to support GBF implementation at the national level while enhancing policy alignment with international goals on food systems, including Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 (Zero Hunger) and the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) national pathways. Additionally, this guidance highlights the opportunities and challenges in coordinating national policy planning and implementation.
