إن المراكز المرجعية لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة المعنية بصحة الحيوان هي مؤسسات يعيّنها المدير العام لكي توفّر الأجهزة والخدمات المحددة والفنية للبلدان الأعضاء في المنظمة بشأن قضايا متعلقة بولاية المنظمة. وتدعو المنظمة المؤسسات والجامعات إلى التقدم بطلب لتعيينها في عداد المراكز المرجعية المعنية بأي من المجالات المواضيعية الـ 25 التي تعتبر حاسمة الأهمية بالنسبة إلى البلدان الأعضاء. وسيتم تحديد مجالات أخرى حسب الحاجة.
