On-farm biodiversity

On-farm biodiversity refers to both field-related biodiversity (above- and below-ground) as well as to the other areas of managed non-cropped land (e.g. field margins, permanent hedgerows, forest edges, or wildlife corridors) within the farmed landscape (Altieri and Nicholls, 2004).

Organic residues

Organic residues include any biomass left in the field after the principal economic components of the crop have been harvested.

Orthodox seeds

Seeds that maintain their viability once dried and stored at low temperature.
