Second Session (2024)

The Second Session of the COAG Sub-Committee on Livestock will be held in hybrid format from 16 to 18 July 2024 at FAO headquarters in Rome.

During this Second Session, delegates will discuss the following agenda items related to the three main thematic areas of the Sub-Committee’s Multi-Year Programme of Work (2022-2025) (EN FR ES ZH AR RU):

Sustainable livestock systems for food security, nutrition and inclusive economic growth

  • Global assessment of the contribution of livestock to food security, sustainable agrifood systems, nutrition and healthy diets
  • Sustainable Livestock Transformation Framework
  • Consultations on a voluntary guidance tool for sustainably enhancing the productivity of small-scale livestock producers
  • Mainstreaming gender, youth, Indigenous Peoples and people in vulnerable situations into the livestock sector (Written correspondence)

Animal, public and environmental health through the One Health approach

  • Review of progress on mainstreaming One Health and biosecurity
  • Alternative feeding practices to promote responsible use of antimicrobials

Natural resource use, climate change and biodiversity

  • Advances in applied methods for adaptation and mitigation to climate change (Written correspondence)
  • Forest and agriculture linkages: A path towards integrating forests, trees and livestock in dryland silvopastoral systems
  • Managing soil, land and water resources for sustainable livestock production

Other Matters

  • Review of the Multi-Year Programme of Work 2024–27 (Written correspondence)

Members: Members’ accreditation for the Second Session of the COAG Sub-Committee on Livestock was opened on the Members Gateway on 20 March 2024. Please note that each delegate will need to insert in the form an email address for accreditation and a recent passport-sized digital photograph.

Observers: Designated observers are kindly requested to send names, official titles, addresses and email addresses to attend the session to [email protected].

Virtual participation: The link to register to the virtual meeting will be made available upon receipt of the above information. Please note that to access the virtual meeting platform, the same email address provided by Members or Observers for accreditation should be used on the Zoom registration form.
