Collaborative Partnership on Forests

The need to strengthen the conservation of primary forests through partnership enhancement and coordination of support

The Collaborative Partnership on Forests at the 21st Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF21)

Monday 11-15 May 2026 | UN Headquarters | New York, United States of America

The Collaborative Partnership on Forests will play an active role during the twenty-first session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF21), contributing to key discussions and events in support of the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests 2017–2030.

Taking place on 11–15 May at UN Headquarters in New York, the session will focus on accelerating progress towards the Strategic Plan, with emphasis on Global Forest Goals 1, 3 and 5.

UNFF21 will review implementation efforts, highlight new and updated voluntary national contributions, and showcase outcomes from country-led initiatives. It will also examine how countries, international organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders are strengthening cooperation to advance sustainable forest management. The session will further explore the role of forests in addressing global challenges by strengthening linkages with key international frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. In addition, UNFF21 will address means of implementation—such as finance, partnerships and data—review progress in monitoring and reporting, and contribute to the Global Forest Goals Report 2026. Looking ahead, the session will initiate discussions on the final review of the international arrangement on forests and consider emerging issues shaping the future of forests worldwide.
