The 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or 30th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), more commonly known as COP30, will be held in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
As the first UN Climate Change Conference held in the Amazon region, COP30 provides a valuable opportunity to spotlight the critical importance of forests for addressing climate change, biodiversity loss and sustainable development and to plan accelerated actions towards better conservation, restoration and sustainable use of the world’s forests.
The CPF, coordinated through its secretariat, provides support to the Forest Pavilion, a multistakeholder platform for elevating forest issues across climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development discussions, linking local action with global commitments. The Pavilion is coordinated by an Organizing Committee, co-chaired by Brazil and Canada and includes participation of Member States/Parties, international and regional organizations, and stakeholders including the private sector, civil society, philanthropies, women, youth, and academia.
The Forest Pavilion embodies a shared global commitment to forests as a cornerstone of climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development serving as an inclusive, multi-stakeholder platform that unites governments, civil society, indigenous peoples, youth, the private sector, academia, and international partners in advancing the Global Forest Goals and the Paris Agreement.
Through dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnership, the Pavilion highlights the indispensable role of forests in achieving a just and resilient future for people and planet. It fosters collaboration, mobilizes action and finance, and amplifies diverse voices to accelerate progress towards halting and reversing deforestation by 2030 and safeguarding the world’s forests for generations to come.

Forests are indispensable to the fight against climate change, storing and sequestering carbon. They provide cooling, rainfall regulation, biodiversity and livelihood benefits that are essential for climate adaptation. Yet, the world loses around 10.9 million hectares of forest each year, including 1.61million hectares of primary forests. Wildfires, pests, disease, and extreme weather affect even more, damaging about 170 million hectares annually.
Strengthening the adaptation of forests to climate change is urgent if they are to continue providing their myriad services to people and the planet, including as part of the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy and sustainable agrifood systems.
The Brazilian COP30 Presidency is demonstrating strong leadership to address these challenges and harness the full potential of forests for climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, including through:
Members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) are supporting the priorities of the COP30 Presidency through the provision of technical expertise, and contributing across a range of forest-related topics and activities related to COP30.
