1. How are ICTs being used in Fisheries programmes ?

I agree with Eddie, the question is unclear. I would say that our strategy for some time has been to

1) extend the use of standards and classification systems to our data products

2) employ standard open-source frameworks like apache tomcat and hibernate for information dissemination,

3) produce synthetic information products that combine various data flows into composite products.

So looking at number 3, this perhaps begins to approach your question. We have been focusing for some time on delivering our data in XML, and at this point most of it can be streamed as XML. What we're still lacking are standard web services for delivering that data such as SOAP, but that's in the medium term plans and is more or less a necessity for some of the projects we're involved in such as D4Science.

Nevertheless some of our products I think already show a notable commitment to harmonsing and disseminating data in a standard way, such as the FIRMS partnership: http://firms.fao.org. If your question is still unanswered, please refine it.
