Apply to present your cell-based/precision fermented food products in Shanghai

03/08/2023

Cell-based food developers, producers of input materials and those who use precision fermentation to produce food products can apply to the recently issued call to present their original products in Shanghai, China.

In collaboration with the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA), FAO will hold a stakeholder roundtable meeting on cell-based food production and precision fermentation on 6 November 2023 in Shanghai, China.

A call for presenters is now open, and the selected presenters will meet fellow producers from various parts of the world to discuss the latest developments in the area of cell-based food production and precision fermentation. The meeting will also provide a unique opportunity for participants to exchange relevant information on regulatory compliance and food safety assessment methodologies.

“We usually work with food safety competent authorities, primarily to discuss relevant regulatory issues. However, when it comes to new food production systems, such as cell-based food production and precision fermentation, it is critical for the regulators to have first-hand information from developers and producers,” said Masami Takeuchi, Food Safety Officer at FAO.

“The stakeholder meeting is a great opportunity for such discussion, and, at the same time, the private sector participants would also benefit from learning from each other on regulatory requirements. Active collaboration between the public and private sectors is beneficial for all to assure food safety, as always,” she explained.

Interested parties may apply. After the selection process is completed, successful applicants will receive additional information about the meeting. Click on the link below for the presenter selection criteria and to access the application form.

The deadline to submit the online application is 31 August 2023.
