Shared learning for food systems transformation: stories of practice, learning and change from Uganda

05/07/2023

Following the workshop held during the 4th Global Conference of the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Food Systems Programme (SFSP) in Hanoi in April 2023, the SFSP Working Group on Support the Implementation of National Pathways is pleased to announce the first episode of a series of events on open Shared Learning for Food Systems Transformation on 5 July 2023 from 10:30 to 12:30 CEST (11:30 – 13:30 EAT).

In many countries, food systems multi-stakeholder institutional arrangements are emerging at various levels and are in the process of operationalizing. This generative dialogue, anchored in diverse stories of practical experience lived in, and on the ground of Uganda, is an opportunity to appreciatively share practice (successes and failures), affirm key messages and insights, and amplify and apply learning through public reflection and commitment.

Shared Learning for Food Systems Transformation series

Drawing on stories of practical experience from countries, this series of virtual learning events to mobilize the ecosystem of support towards the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment is intended to:

  • Anchor and amplify diverse stories of practice with impact and open a participatory dialogue for learning and change.
  • Provoke participants beyond the comfort of their own vision of “the country system” and consider differences that might make a meaningful difference to their own work.
  • Reflect on what is shared and heard from participant perspective (individual, country and global contexts); engage in shared learning; and consider how their own practice might change.
  • Appreciate a selection of national convenors and the ecosystem of support around concrete country challenges as input for the Food Systems Stocktaking Moment (Rome, Italy from 24 – 26 July 2023).

The series is co-organized by the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Food Systems Programme and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub.
