Capacity building

The capacity building activities strengthen countries' capacities to implement national forest programmes. FAO, in collaboration with the NFP Facility, has developed and piloted capacity building modules on enhancing stakeholder participation in nfps and on collaborative conflict management for enhanced nfps.

These modules strengthen state and non-state institutions and actors to facilitate and engage in multi-stakeholder planning processes in a manner that ensures meaningful participation, especially of marginalized stakeholders.

Over the years, a critical mass of expertise has emerged in state forestry departments, NGOs, training institutions and community-based organizations in several countries where the modules have been provided.
