Contract Farming Resource Centre

Improved organization and updated library and toolkit sections of CFRC

15.05.2023

In our ongoing effort to provide a comprehensive and user-friendly platform on contract farming (CF), we have made improvements in the site structure and the organization of information and resources for CFRC.  These changes, particularly in the Library and Toolkit sections, aim to facilitate more efficient and overall better experiences in searching and accessing information and resources on CF.

Here is a snapshot of these changes:

Our Library has been restructured to present a more organized and exhaustive repository. It contains the following subsections:

  • All publications: A collection of 415 publications on CF includes journal articles, books, reports, studies, working papers, conference papers among others. New publications are being added periodically. You can search and sort the records by title, author, organization, keywords and/or publication date.

Each record contains a link to a webpage designated to the record where you can find a short summary and the link to access the publication. Note that some may require a subscription to the publisher to access or download the publication.

  • Key literature on CF: We have curated two lists of key references on CF, in particular for CF practitioners and policymakers: a list of key literature on CF and a collection of key references for 22 specific topics.
  • Briefs: You will find publications and information products that are concise yet informative on various CF issues.
  • Presentations: The selection mainly contains presentations (e.g. presentation slides or video) of CF cases and projects around the world as well as some general presentations on CF.

The Toolkit section has also been reorganized and now offers an array of practical information and tools aimed at aiding the design and implementation of CF schemes. This section comprises:

  • Contract samples: A collection of sample contracts has been collected for various agrifood commodities worldwide, exemplifying different contractual clauses and general conditions internationally used in CF.
  • Other tools: A set of practical tools include
    • questionnaires that can be used to facilitate the feasibility assessment of CF for buyers and producers and the development and negotiations of contract agreements,
    • a questionnaire for preparing field visits,
    • a checklist and guiding questions for analyzing contracts,
    • a checklist that could facilitate the selection of producers for a CF pilot, and
    • a compliance tracking matrix that can help the preparation, management and evaluation of CF operations.

We wish you a pleasant experience in exploring CFRC website and its resources.
