FAO in Indonesia

Our team

The FAO Indonesia team is comprised of experts and professionals from various backgrounds. They are posted at the Representation in Jakarta and at project offices in the Ministry of Agriculture - Jakarta, Kupang and Palembang.

In mid-2015, a total of 82 people, including 6 international staff, 7 fixed term staff and 15 consultants worked with the FAO Representative, Stephen Rudgard, bringing years of experience to achieve FAO's goals towards the eradication of hunger, poverty and malnutrition, while also supporting the sustainable use of natural resources in Indonesia.

Engineers, veterinarians, epidemiologists, agronomists, lawyers, communication and IT specialists, writers and translators are among our team. We, together with the Indonesian Government, are ready to deliver our best to serve people in the country.

FAO Representative

FAO Representative develops and maintains relations with the Government and other institutions in the country and liaises on behalf of the Regional Representative (RR) with regional organizations located in the country, such as ASEAN Secretariat in Indonesia.

The FAO Representative guides all units in FAO on country assistance priorities and provides guidance to FAO staff in the country on advocacy, policy, security and general managerial issues. The FAO Representative works in the line of command of the Director-General with whom he generally communicates through the Office for Support to Decentralized Offices (OSD).

The role of the FAO Representative has significantly expanded over the last few years, especially in regard to his increasing responsibilities within the project cycle and his interaction with the UN Country Team (UNCT).
