World Bee Day 2026 Bee together for people and the planet
A partnership that sustains us all

World Bee Day is celebrated on 20 May each year. By observing this day, we can raise awareness of the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping people and the planet healthy and of the many challenges they face today.
Under the theme “Bee Together for People and the Planet - A partnership that sustains us all”, World Bee Day 2026 highlights and celebrates the long-lasting partnership between humans and bees.
For millennia, bees and people have shared a close and evolving connection, shaped by the ways communities across the world have relied on bees and other pollinators for food and livelihoods, with bees often becoming part of their cultures.
Let’s mark this day together, help us spread the word!

Join the World Bee Day events:
-Visit the semi-permanent art installation “API-LOGO”, hosted at the Botanical Garden of Rome designed by artist Cyril de Commarque with technical support from FAO and dedicated to wild bees and their conservation. The art installation, designed to host wild pollinators, will serve as a symbolic and educational structure aimed at raising awareness of pollinators.
- Visit the temporary exhibition at the FAO Headquarters Museum (18-24 May), featuring historical artifacts, traditional and modern beehives, good beekeeping practices, as well as innovations in the sector. With bees at its center, the exhibition also draws attention to the wider community of pollinators and their shared role in sustaining ecosystems and global agrifood systems. Book your visit here.
- Follow the webcast of the Third International Forum for Action on Sustainable Beekeeping and Pollination, taking place in Maribor, Slovenia, on 20-21 May. Under the theme “Science, innovation and policy actions for a more sustainable future”, the Forum co-organized by FAO and the Republic of Slovenia will bring together policymakers, researchers, beekeepers, farmers’ organizations, civil society and private sector representatives to strengthen dialogue across sectors. Discussions will focus on reinforcing the science-policy interface, scaling up pollinator-friendly agricultural practices, advancing international cooperation, and addressing emerging challenges in honey quality and trade.
