The farmers will offer seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables to around 3000 people - including employees, contractors, delegates and visitors - that enter the FAO headquarters every day.

Centro Agroalimentare Roma (CAR) - one of the largest distribution centres in Europe for farm fresh products and services, currently dealing with 170 local farmers in the Lazio region through its platform - selects the farmers participating in the FAO Farmers’ Market on rotational basis.

CAR is a member of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) - a non-profit association that aims to promote the international exchange of information on wholesale and retail markets, with a view to improving their construction, organization and management.

The Farmer’s Market at FAO premises is a way to promote how healthy, diversified diets are vital to improving nutrition.

The FAO Farmers' market will continue to be organized once a week in 2020.
