Dakar, September 13, 2004 :Locust continues to devastate farmers
The pilgrim locusts which invaded the Senegal for the past month has began to frustrate farmers in the country with some not knowing what do to save their harvests. In some areas affected by the invasion, there is a real threat of new born locusts. According to some specialists, the agricultural production for this year will be less than the expected result. The government says is confident that it will soon overcome the situation. However, farmers are looking for alternative solutions despite losses which are already irreversible. Hundreds of millet, groundnut, sorghum, and maize fields were destroyed since the invasion
