This symposium will be jointly organized by the GlobalFood Program of the University of Göttingen, Germany and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) from 28 to 29 April 2017 in Göttingen. The aim of the symposium is to discuss new research findings and policy challenges related to transformation of the global agrifood system. The organizers call for papers and posters from researchers working on related topics from an economics and/or social science perspective. Topics to be covered include supply chain management, food standards and trade, sustainability certification, contract farming, linking smallholder farmers to markets, food security and poverty, supermarkets, consumer preferences, the nutrition transition, and obesity.
