The materials on the platform have been selected according to the following criteria:
Content criteria:
- the item is on value chains, and ideally also on food and sustainability (or at least applicable to them);
- it adds something new to the library (older documents may be replaced);
- it covers the subject matter in a balanced manner (is objective);
- it has a strong track record at the field level, chiefly linked to FVC development (for older materials);
- it originates from a reliable and reputable source;
- it is technically valid/reliable/accurate, based on sound research methodologies;
- it is well-written (readable and expressed in grammatically correct language);
- it is practical (easy to apply to desk/field work);
- it has been published.
Training and learning materials criteria (in addition to Content criteria):
- the item has been developed for a specific purpose and a defined target audience;
- it has clear training and learning objectives;
- it identifies clear intended learning outcomes;
- it is based on an identifiable training method (e.g. participatory, experiential);
- it provides guidance on how it should be used;
- its contents are comprehensive;
- it has been validated (field-tested and evaluated);
- it has a good track record at the field level.
Format criteria:
- the item is a finished product (not a draft or test version);
- it is publicly available and its use is free of charge (with a licensing agreement in place or not applicable);
- it is less than 7 MB in size;
- it is in one of the following formats: jpg, jpeg, gif, png, txt, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, ppt, pps, odt, ods, odp, xml, rdf, csv, zip, rar, avi, flv, wmv, mp4, mov.
