Author(s) Robson, M & Berrahmouni, N.
Year of publication 2004
Responsible forest management means that forests are managed in an environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable way. Forest certification is a labelling system used to encourage responsible forest management by providing added value to forest products from well-managed forests. Certification is also used as a tool to promote the development of improved systems and structures for the management of forests. This booklet simply explains the steps for the certification; it shows the opportunity for North Africa and reports some successful case study in Canada, Kenya, Russia and Spain.
