Webinars, Conferences and Workshops
The World Banana Forum (WBF), the International Plant Protection Convention, FAO’s Plant Production and Protection Division and the FAO Subregional Office for Mesoamerica under the TR4 Global Network initiative are producing a series of capacity development events aiming to strengthening the technical knowledge of official phytosanitary agencies and the capacities of banana industry stakeholders regarding the Fusarium Wilt of Banana, Tropical Race 4 (Foc TR4).
Through the TR4GN initiative, the World Banana Forum (WBF), the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the FAO Subregional Office for Mesoamerica continues to provide support to banana and plantain producers around the world in the common fight against Fusarium TR4.
The TR4-related events counts with the participation of several institutions worldwide and covers several aspects related to the disease such as the challenges faced during the diagnosis of TR4, which can thus lead to the enhancement of early detection systems for the disease, the estimation of economic impact of an incursion, surveillance techniques, biosecurity measures, awareness raising and communication, promising resistant/tolerant varieties, remote sensing technologies, mobile applications and procedures for the safe introduction of banana germplasm.
