WIEWS - World Information and Early Warning System on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

This indicator focuses on actions with institutional support addressing in situ conservation and management of crop wild relatives and wild food plants in the country of the reporting Stakeholder

It is based on information reported in response to question 4.2 of the Reporting Format for Monitoring the Implementation of the Second Global Plan of Action for PGRFA.

Question 4.2 requests the Stakeholder to provide programmes/projects/activities carried out during the reporting period on in situ conservation and management of crop wild relatives and wild food plants, and the type of supporting institutions. Optionally, the area covered, taxa identified and additional topics addressed can also be indicated.

In situ conservation and management actions with institutional support’ refers to actions in natural habitats, initiated and supported by the government and/or non-governmental organizations. It should be noted that a wild food plant should not be confused with ‘IUCN red listed wild species’. A wild food plant (WFP) is a non-domesticated species that typically grows in a natural habitat and is being used by the local people as food.

The information is provided according to a table as described below.

Show Data

National Focal Point rating for the country/region selected is displayed.

Actions for CWR and WFP in situ conservation and management, total is the sum total of conservation and management actions for CWR and WFP in situ conservation and management of the selected county/region reported by the Stakeholder for the reporting period.

Actions for CWR and WFP in situ conservation and management, annual average is the average number per year of conservation and management actions for CWR and WFP in situ conservation and management of the selected county/region reported by the Stakeholder for the reporting period.
