Data collection

The availability of timely, accurate and high-quality statistics is essential to monitor trends and inform policy decisions. Improving the quality, transparency, and access to statistical data is a fundamental pillar of FAO's work.

FAO  has committed to maintain the best possible capacity to collect, process, validate, harmonize and analyse incoming data and generate and disseminate accurate and timely information on food and agriculture.

To this end, FAO collects relevant national statistical information on food and agriculture. Data are collected through Questionnaires, submitted to countries by the teams publishing in FAOSTAT on a regular basis.
